      The horizontal single stage simple suction centrifugal pump type IS is designed according to the performance and dimensions specified in the national standard ISO2858, mainly composed of the pump body (1), pump cover (2), impeller (3), shaft (4), sealing ring (5), shaft sleeve, and suspension bearing components (12).

      The horizontal single stage simple suction centrifugal pump type IS is rear-opening, and it is not necessary to disassemble the suction and discharge pipes when removing the pump cover and impeller. The suspension contains two ball bearings lubricated with machine oil or grease. The pump is driven directly by a motor through an elastic coupling. The volute chamber, feet, inlet flange, and outlet flange are cast as a single piece.

      The body and cover of the centrifugal pump type IS are divided from the rear of the impeller, that is, the commonly called rear-opening structure. Its advantage is that maintenance is convenient, the pump body, suction pipe, discharge pipe, or motor do not move during maintenance, only the intermediate coupling of the elongated elastic coupling needs to be disassembled to remove the rotor and perform maintenance.

      The pump casing (that is, the body and cover of the pump) forms the working chamber of the pump, the impeller, shaft, and bearings are the rotor. The suspension bearing components support the rotor components of the pump, and the bearings support the radial and axial forces of the pump.

      To balance the axial force of the pump, most impellers have sealing rings in front and behind, and there are balance holes in the rear plate of the impeller. Because some pumps have little axial force, sealing rings and balance holes are not installed at the rear of the impeller.

      The axial sealing ring of the pump is composed of the packing (9), packing ring (10), and packing (11) to prevent the entry of air or water leaks. If the impeller is balanced, the cavity with soft packing is connected to the inlet of the impeller; if the liquid in the inlet of the impeller is in a vacuum state, it is easy for air to enter along the surface of the shaft sleeve, so a packing ring is installed in the packing cavity that leads pressurized water from the pump chamber through a small hole in the cover to seal. If the impeller does not have a balance hole, because the pressure of the liquid at the rear of the impeller is greater than atmospheric pressure, there is no vapor leakage problem, so it is not necessary to install the packing ring.

      To prevent wear of the shaft, a protective sleeve is installed at the point where the shaft passes through the packing cavity, and an O-ring seal is installed between the sleeve and the shaft to prevent the entry of air or water leaks along the contact surface.

      The transmission mode of the pump is through an elongated elastic coupling connected to the motor. The direction of rotation of the pump, viewed from the drive end, is clockwise.

     

    Installation of the horizontal single stage simple suction centrifugal pump type IS

    1. Assembly and disassembly

    Before assembly, it should first be inspected whether the parts have defects that affect assembly and cleaned before proceeding to assembly.

    1. The connection bolts, threaded plugs, etc., can be pre-tightened on the corresponding parts.

    2. O-sealing rings, paper gaskets, felts, etc., can be pre-placed on the corresponding parts.

    3. Sealing rings, packings, packing rings, packings, etc., can be pre-assembled on the pump cover in order.

    4. Mount the ball bearings on the shaft, then on the suspension, close the cover, tighten the ball bearings, and place the connection bolts on the shaft.

    5. Mount the sleeve on the shaft, then mount the cover on the suspension, then mount the impeller, the retaining washer, the impeller nut, etc., and tighten them. Finally, mount the previous components on the pump body and tighten the connection bolts of the body and the pump cover.

    During the previous assembly process, special attention should be paid to small parts such as the key, the oil tray, the O-ring seal inside the sleeve, which are easy to lose or assemble in the wrong order.

    The disassembly order of the pump can basically be done in reverse order to the assembly.

    2. Installation

    The quality of the pump installation has a significant impact on its operation and service life, so installation and calibration must be done carefully. The shape and installation dimensions of the pump.

    1. Installation and calibration:

    1) Clean the grease and dirt on the base, place the base on the foundation.

    2) Use a level to check the horizontal position of the base, shims may be used for leveling.

    3) Pour cement into the base and into the anchor bolt holes.

    4) After the cement has dried, check if the base and the bolt holes are loose; once suitable, tighten the anchor bolts and recheck the horizontal position.

    5) Clean the support surface of the base, the legs of the pump, and the legs of the motor, and mount the pump and motor on the base.

    6) A certain space must be maintained between the couplings; check if the center lines of the pump shaft and the motor are aligned, a thin sheet can be used to adjust and make them concentric.

    7) Measure the difference at the outer edges of the coupling above, below, left, and right, which should not exceed 0.1 mm; the maximum and minimum difference in the space around the face of the coupling should not exceed 0.3 mm.

    2. Installation instructions:

    1) The installation height of the centrifugal pump, the length, diameter, and speed of the pipeline must meet the calculations, aiming to reduce unnecessary losses.

    2) For long-distance transport, a larger pipe diameter must be used; the pump's pipe must have its own support, the weight of the pipe must not rest on the pump to avoid damage.

    3) If a check valve is installed in the discharge pipe, it must be placed outside the gate valve.

    3. Start-up, stop, and operation

    1. Start-up:

    1) Before connecting the machine, confirm that the motor's rotation direction is correct and that the pump operates smoothly.

    2) Close the check valve in the discharge pipe.

    3) Fill the pump with water or prime it with a vacuum pump.

    4) Connect the power supply; when the pump reaches normal speed, gradually open the gate valve in the discharge pipe and adjust it to the required conditions. When the gate valve in the discharge pipe is closed, the continuous operating time of the pump should not exceed 3 minutes.

    2. Stop:

    1) Gradually close the gate valve in the discharge pipe and cut off the power supply.

    2) If the ambient temperature is below 0℃, the water inside the pump must be drained to prevent freezing and cracking.

    3) If stopped for a long period, the pump must be disassembled, cleaned, lubricated, and stored properly.

    3. Operation:

    1) During start-up and operation, carefully observe the instrument readings, the heating of the bearings, the leakage and heating of the packing, as well as vibrations and noises; if any anomalies are detected, they must be addressed immediately.

    2) The maximum bearing temperature should not exceed 80℃, and it should not exceed 40℃ above the ambient temperature.

    3) The packing must be in normal condition, and the water leakage should be small and uniform.

    4) The oil level of the bearing must be maintained at the normal position, not too high or too low; if it is low, lubricant must be replenished in time.

    5) If the wear of the space between the sealing ring and the coupling part of the impeller is too large, the sealing ring must be replaced with a new one.
