Operating principle and structural explanation of the ZX type horizontal clean water self-priming pump:
The ZX type horizontal self-priming pump uses a pump body structure with axial liquid return. The pump body consists of the suction chamber, liquid storage chamber, volute chamber, liquid return orifice, and gas-liquid separation chamber. After the pump starts normally, the impeller sucks the liquid stored in the suction chamber along with the air in the suction pipe, mixing them completely inside the impeller. Under the action of centrifugal force, the gas-liquid mixture moves to the outer edge of the volute chamber, forming a white foam band of certain thickness and a high-speed rotating liquid ring at the outer edge of the impeller. The gas-liquid mixture passes through the diffuser tube to the gas-liquid separation chamber. At this moment, due to the sudden reduction in flow velocity, the lighter gas separates from the mixture and is expelled through the pump body outlet. The degassed liquid returns to the storage chamber and re-enters the impeller through the return orifice, mixing again with the gas sucked from the inlet pipe. Under the action of the high-speed rotating impeller, the liquid flows back to the impeller edge... This process repeats continuously, gradually reducing the air in the suction pipe until it is completely eliminated, completing the self-priming process and allowing the pump to operate normally.
In some models, the pump bearing base does not have a cooling chamber. When bearing heating raises the bearing body temperature above 70°C, cooling liquid can be injected through any cooling liquid pipe connection in the chamber to circulate and cool. The internal sealing mechanism that prevents liquid leakage from the high-pressure zone to the low-pressure zone consists of front and rear sealing rings; the front ring is mounted on the pump body and the rear on the bearing body. When the sealing ring wears out after prolonged use and affects the pump's efficiency and self-priming capacity, it must be replaced.
The ZX type horizontal self-priming centrifugal pump has advantages such as compact structure, simple operation, stable performance, easy maintenance, high efficiency, long service life, and strong self-priming ability. It does not require installation of a foot valve in the pipeline; before operation, it is only necessary to ensure that the pump body contains a fixed amount of priming liquid. Therefore, the self-priming centrifugal pump simplifies the piping system and improves working conditions. The basic structure of the ZX type clean water self-priming pump includes the pump, motor, and base, where the pump consists of the impeller, shaft sleeve, pump shaft, and sealing elements. The sealing method used is mechanical seal.

It can be used with any type and specification of filter press, being the ideal pump to feed pulp to the filter for pressing.
1. When the pump is directly coupled to the motor, attention must be paid to the coaxiality between the pump shaft and the motor output; installation accuracy affects the pump's operational stability.
This greatly impacts the pump's stability and service life, so installation and alignment must be done carefully.
2. The pump coupling must be securely fastened with nuts and locked to prevent loosening, as this can cause impeller displacement and mechanical failure.
3. To maintain a certain volume of liquid stored inside the pump body and achieve good self-priming capacity and avoid dry wear of the mechanical seal, the pump inlet must be
above the pump shaft centerline.
4. The installation of the suction pipe must consider:
a. The installation height of the suction inlet should not exceed 5 meters; when conditions allow, the inlet should be as low as possible below the minimum water tank level and the suction pipe length should be as short as possible, with few elbows, to reduce self-priming time and improve self-priming function.
b. Valves, flanges, and other elements in the suction pipe must prevent air or liquid leaks; air leaks in the suction pipe are not allowed.
c. The entry of solids or other debris into the pump body must be avoided, so a filter should be installed in the suction pipe. The effective flow area of the filter should be 2-3 times the cross-sectional area of the suction pipe, and the filter should be checked periodically.
d. The suction and discharge pipes must have their own supports; the pump body should not bear the load of the pipes.
5. During installation, the static grounding resistance of the pump and pipes must meet the specified requirements.
6. During installation, it must be strictly inspected that there are no stones, sand, or other debris in the pump casing and pipes.
7. Adjust the installation spacing and coaxiality of the correction pump coupling and the motor dynamic coupling; the allowed misalignment deviation is 0.1 millimeters. The height difference between the pump shaft and the electric motor shaft can be adjusted by placing copper or iron shims on the base.
8. After the unit runs for 3-4 hours, perform a final inspection; if there are no abnormalities, the installation is considered correct. During the operation test, the bearing temperature must be checked, and the bearing body temperature must not exceed 70℃.
9. For the bearing body of this pump equipped with a cooling chamber device, the cooling water connection is designed for rubber hoses or plastic tubes with an inner diameter of Φ12, and the thread size is M12×1.75.
10. If a check valve is installed on the pump discharge pipe and during the self-priming process the pump cannot expel gas properly, a small vent tube and a valve should be added at the pump outlet.
Use of the ZX type horizontal self-priming clean water pump:
(1) Preparation and inspection work before startup:
1. This series of self-priming pumps uses high-quality calcium grease and No. 10 oil for lubrication according to the pump's operating conditions. If grease is used for lubrication, grease should be added periodically in the bearing box. If oil is used for lubrication and the oil level is insufficient, it should be refilled.
2. Check if the liquid stored inside the pump casing is above the upper edge of the impeller. If insufficient, liquid can be injected directly into the pump body through the filling port in the casing. The pump should not be started with insufficient liquid, as it will not operate properly and may damage the mechanical seal.
3. Check if the moving parts of the pump are stuck or have magnetic contact.
4. Check if the pump bases and connection nuts are loose.
5. Check the coaxiality and parallelism between the pump shaft and the main shaft of the electric motor.
6. Check for air leaks in the inlet pipe; if leaks exist, they must be eliminated.
7. Open the suction pipe valve and slightly open (not fully) the outlet control valve.
(2) Startup and operation:
1. Start the self-priming pump with pulses, paying attention to ensure the pump shaft rotation direction is correct.
2. Pay attention to any abnormal noise or vibration during rotation.
3. Observe the readings of the pressure gauge and vacuum gauge. After startup, when the readings fluctuate for a while and then stabilize, it indicates that the liquid has entered the pump and normal liquid transport operation has begun.
4. During the self-priming process, before the pump enters normal liquid transport operation, pay special attention to the increase in water temperature inside the pump. If this process is too long and the water temperature is too high, stop the pump to inspect the cause.
5. If the liquid temperature inside the pump is too high and causes difficulties in self-priming, the pump can be temporarily stopped and the liquid reflux in the discharge pipe used to return it to the pump or liquid added directly through the filling port to cool the liquid inside the pump, then restart.
6. If during operation the pump exhibits strong vibrations and cavitation noise, it may be due to cavitation. The causes of cavitation are twofold: one is excessive velocity in the inlet pipe; the other is too high a suction height. If the velocity is too high, the outlet control valve can be adjusted to increase the pressure gauge reading. If there is obstruction in the inlet pipe, it must be removed promptly. If the suction height is too high, the pump installation height can be reduced.
7. If the pump stops for any reason during operation and needs to be restarted, the outlet control valve should be slightly opened (not completely closed). This facilitates the expulsion of gas from the outlet during self-priming and ensures the pump starts with a lighter load.
8. Pay attention to check for leaks in the piping system.
(3) Pump shutdown:
1. First, close the gate valve on the discharge pipe.
2. Stop the pump rotation.
3. In cold seasons, drain the liquid stored inside the pump body and the water in the bearing body cooling chamber to prevent parts from freezing and cracking.
