Description of the structure of the horizontal multistage centrifugal pump type D

The horizontal multistage pump type D is segmented into multiple stages, with the water inlet located in the horizontal direction at the inlet section, and the outlet in the vertical direction upwards at the water section. The lift height can be adjusted by increasing or decreasing the number of stages as needed. The correct assembly of the pump significantly affects its performance, especially the alignment between the outlet of each impeller and the center of the inlet and outlet of the guide vanes; any deviation can reduce the flow rate, decrease the lift height, and efficiency, so special attention should be paid during maintenance and assembly.

The main parts of the horizontal multistage pump type D are: inlet section, middle section, outlet section, impeller, guide vanes, outlet guide vanes, shaft, sealing ring, balance ring, shaft sleeve, rear cover, and bearing body.

The inlet section, middle section, guide vanes, outlet guide vanes, outlet section, and rear cover are made of cast iron, collectively forming the working chamber of the pump.

The impeller of the horizontal centrifugal pump type D is made of high-quality cast iron, with internal blades. The liquid enters axially from one side of the shaft. Due to the pressure difference between the front and rear of the impeller, there is an axial force that is supported by the balance disc. The impeller undergoes a static balance test during its manufacturing.

The shaft is made of high-quality carbon steel, with the impeller mounted in the middle, fixed to the shaft by keys, sleeves, and nut sleeves. One end of the shaft is equipped with a coupling for direct connection to the motor.

The sealing ring of the horizontal centrifugal pump type D is made of cast iron to prevent high-pressure water from returning to the inlet part. It is fixed in the inlet section and the middle section. It is a wear part that can be replaced with spare parts when worn.

The balance ring is made of cast iron and is fixed in the outlet section, forming a balance device together with the balance.

The balance disc of the horizontal centrifugal pump type D is made of wear-resistant cast iron, mounted on the shaft between the outlet section and the rear cover to balance the axial force.

The shaft sleeve is made of cast iron, located in the packing chamber, serves to fix the impeller and protect the pump shaft. It is a wear part that can be replaced with spare parts when worn.

The bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing, lubricated with calcium-based grease.

The packing has a sealing function to prevent air entry and liquid leakage. The packing seal consists of the packing chamber in the inlet section and the rear cover, the packing gland, the packing ring, and the packing itself. A small flow of high-pressure water enters the packing chamber to form a water seal. The tension of the packing must be appropriate, neither too tight nor too loose, allowing the liquid to leak drop by drop. If it is too tight, the shaft sleeve will heat up and consume more power. If it is too loose, the liquid loss will reduce the efficiency of the pump.

Assembly, start-up, operation, and stopping of the horizontal multistage centrifugal pump type D

    (1) Assembly sequence:

    1) Firmly place the sealing rings in the inlet section and in the guide vanes.

    2) Mount the guide vanes in the middle section, then place the guide vanes in all the middle sections.

    3) Pass the shafts with sleeves A and B through the inlet section and push the impeller, place a layer of paper between the middle sections, mount the middle section, then push the second impeller and repeat the previous steps until all the impellers and middle sections are mounted.

    4) Mount the balance ring, balance sleeve, and outlet guide vanes in the outlet section.

    5) Mount the outlet section to the middle section and tighten the bolts to fix the inlet section, middle section, and outlet section together.

    6) Mount the balance disc and sleeve B (the 50DB pump does not have this part).

    7) Place the paper layer on the rear cover, mount the rear cover on the outlet section, and then mount the packing, the packing ring, and the stuffing box in the packing chamber of the inlet section and the rear cover in order.

    8) Mount the bearing body in the inlet section and the rear cover, and tighten with bolts.

    9) Insert the bearing positioning sleeve, the ball bearing, and secure with the nut.

    10) Apply an appropriate amount of grease to the bearing body, place the paper layer on the bearing cover, mount the bearing cover on the bearing body, and tighten with screws.

    11) Mount the coupling, the air vent, and all square plugs.

Disassembly is performed in the reverse order of assembly.

    (2) Installation:

    1. Preparations before installation.

    1) Check the water pump and the motor.

    2) Prepare tools and lifting machinery.

    3) Inspect the machine base.

    2. Installation sequence:

    1) Transport the complete pump assembly to the site; if it comes with a base and installed motor, it is not necessary to disassemble the pump and motor to level the base.

    2) Place the base on the foundation, place wedges near the anchor bolts to raise the base approximately 20 to 40 millimeters, preparing to level and fill with cement grout.

    3) Use a level to check the horizontal position of the base, level and tighten the nuts of the anchor bolts, fill the base with cement grout.

    4) After 3 to 4 days of cement drying, check the horizontal position again.

    5) Clean the dirt from the support surface of the base, the legs of the pump, and the motor; then place the pump and motor on the base.

    6) Adjust the horizontal position of the pump shaft, level and properly tighten the nuts to prevent movement; after adjustment, install the motor; place iron plates where it is not level; leave a gap between the pump and the coupling.

    7) Place a level rule over the coupling to check if the pump shaft and the motor shaft are aligned; if they are not aligned, place thin sheets under the legs of the motor or the pump to level the outer circle of both couplings with the rule, then replace the sheets with a machined iron plate and check the installation again.

To verify the accuracy of the installation, use gauges in various opposite positions to measure the gap between the surfaces of the couplings; the maximum and minimum difference around the coupling should not exceed 0.3 mm, and the difference in the center in vertical or horizontal direction should not exceed 0.1 mm.

    (3) Start and stop:

    1) Clean the old oil from the shafts and other lubricated parts.

    2) Clean the bearings and the oil chamber with gasoline, and dry with cotton.

    3) Add calcium-based oil to the bearing body.

    4) After a successful test, check that the motor's rotation direction is correct; avoid the pump rotating in the opposite direction and loosen the nuts; then start the motor.

    5) Fill the pump with water or prime the pump in empty.

    6) Close the valve and the pressure gauge plug in the discharge pipe.

    7) After completing the above, start the motor and open the pressure gauge plug.

    8) When the pump operates at normal speed, the pressure gauge will show the appropriate pressure; then open the vacuum gauge and gradually open the gate valve in the drainage pipe until the required pressure is reached.

    9) When stopping the pump, slowly close the gate valve in the drainage pipe, close the vacuum gauge plug, stop the motor, and then close the pressure gauge plug.

    10) When the pump is out of service for a long time, disassemble it, clean the water from the parts, and apply anti-corrosive oil to the sliding surfaces for proper storage.

    (4) Operation:

    1) Pay attention to the temperature of the pump bearing; it should not exceed the ambient temperature by 35 degrees or exceed 75 degrees.

    2) The normal water leakage in the packing chamber should not exceed 15 milliliters per minute; adjust the packing pressure as necessary.

    3) Periodically inspect the coupling and pay attention to the increase in temperature of the motor bearing.

    4) During operation, if noise or abnormal sounds are detected, stop immediately and check the cause.

    FAQ

    Q

What products do you mainly produce?

    A

Zoomlion Pump Industry manufactures various large industrial centrifugal pumps. The main products include: self-balancing multistage pumps, multistage centrifugal pumps, single-stage centrifugal pumps, split-case pumps, chemical pumps, submersible pumps, pipeline pumps, long-shaft pumps, condenser pumps, and more.

    Q

Can you help me choose a model?

    A

Of course! If the water pump model is not selected accurately, it can cause significant problems. After you take it back, it might be either too small to meet the usage requirements or too large, resulting in higher electricity and fuel costs, increasing the operating expenses.

    Q

Why is the price quotation so slow?

    A

Because centrifugal pumps are non-standard custom products with many models and a wide price range. Even for the same model, the price varies greatly depending on the materials and configurations used. Taking the most common pump accessory—the impeller—as an example, the price of a stainless steel impeller is several times that of a cast iron impeller. Therefore, we need to clearly confirm the relevant information to provide you with an accurate price. Normally, if you provide comprehensive information, we can quote within 5 minutes.

    Q

What information should I provide when I need a quote?

    A

Usually, if you want to get an accurate quote, it is recommended that you provide us with the following information: pump flow rate, head, on-site operating voltage, frequency, temperature of the conveyed liquid, pH value, solid particle content, on-site installation conditions (horizontal or vertical installation), and other related details. If you are not very familiar with these, it’s okay; our sales manager will assist you in determining them.

    Q

Do you have centrifugal pumps in stock?

    A

There are many models and configurations of centrifugal pumps. Except for a small number of commonly used standard models that are in stock, the vast majority of models and configurations are not stocked and are customized products. We need to first select the pump based on your site conditions such as flow rate, head, medium temperature, pH value, and installation conditions. After determining the pump model and configuration, we can then place an order with the workshop for production.

    Q

What is your usual delivery time?

    A

Models in stock can be shipped by the next day at the latest. Others are custom-made, and depending on the product size and specific project conditions, the delivery time is generally between 7-90 days. Please consult our sales manager for details: 0731-88632200 。
